Lakshmi Vilas Bank is one of the oldest bank which was founded in the year 1926 by a certain group of businessmen. Under the leadership of Shri V.S.N. Ramalinga Chettiar, this bank was started with an aim to serve people fulfil their financial needs with regards to trading businesses, industry and agriculture. The bank was started on 3rd of November under the Indian Companies Act, 1913. It also received the certificate to start the business from 10th of November. Currently the operations as in from 2020 has been with more than 500 branches network. This includes the satellite branch and the commercial banking branch as well. There are 32 “B” Category Branches with 973 ATMs and deployed POS machines.

History

Lakshmi Vilas Bank is one of the oldest bank which changed over the time. It has quite a good number of branch network in today’s time. But this is not new. The branches network was even quite a lot in the period of 1961 to 1965.

In those time, the bank had even over took more than 6 banks. In the year 1974, the bank started with the branch network expansions beyond Tamil Nadu to offer Advantages in the Pan India Market.

There were multiple branches in Karnataka and Kerala, neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh, and also in cities like New Delhi and Mumbai.

In the year 1976, the bank earned the status of Authorised Dealer in foreign exchange while providing the wide range of services for the clients who look forward to start the international tradition experience.

In the year 1977, there was a mechanisation introduced in Administrative Office along while in the year 1993 computerisation of the bank started.

October 2006 was the year when core banking solution was implemented in all they branches of the bank.

By the year 2018, the bank offered 569 branches, 1,046 ATMs and 7 extension counters

Acquisition

Lakshmi Vilas Bank had acquired the merge with Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd is the  country's second largest housing finance company. For this Lakshmi Vilas Bank was entitled to get the stake of 9.5%.

Awards and Recognition:

Lakshmi Vilas Bank won National Payments Corporation Of India Felicitates For Fastest Cts Implementation In Chennai. It also won National Payments Excellence Awards 2014. Lakshmi Vilas Bank was the winner In National Automated Clearing House in the same year. In the year 2015, the bank won Cio100 Special Awards and Conqueror Honouree for cloud implementation. Lakshmi Vilas Bank won 2014-15 - Best Bank Award (Among Small Banks) For Managing IT Infrastructure Among Small Banks. It also received the Medal Of Honour For Successful Digital Odyssey in the year 2017. The bank also has Idc Insights Awards 2018 For Excellence In Omni Experience.
