State Bank of Travancore (SBT) is an Indian Bank whose headquarters is located at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The bank has the major associated with the state bank of India. It was also a subsidiary of the State Bank Group which is known to had private shareholders. In the year 2017, the bank got merged with the SBI through the Union Cabinet approval and is now with its parent bank from 31 March 2017. Till the year 2015, the bank had more than 1000 branches with 1600 ATM which covered nearly 18 states and also three union territories.

History
In the year 1945, State Bank of Travancore (SBT) was founded. The initiative was made by the Travancore Diwan C. P. Ramaswami Iyer. However, the bank always considered, Maharaja of Travancore Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma as the founder of the same.
In the year 1960, the bank undertook the task of government treasury work along with foreign exchange business. In the same, it then also became a subsidiary of State Bank of India under the SBI Subsidiary Banks Act, 1959.
In the year 2017, there was a merger declared for the bank along with some other associate banks for to be the part of its parent bank the State Bank of India.
Acquisitions
During the period of 1959 to 1965, the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) had different small and private banks in Kerala. In the year 1959, State Bank of Travancore (SBT) acquitted the liability of Indo Mercantile bank. Following the next year, it acquired Travancore Forward Bank and Kottayam Orient Bank. In the year 1963, acquisition of Vasudeva Vilasam Bank was done while in the year 1964 Cochin Nayar Bank was acquired. It also acquired Champakulam Catholic Bank which was established in Allery. In the year 1965, State Bank of Travancore (SBT) acquired Chaldean Syrian Bank and Alwaye that had many leading families of Syrian Christian origin which was founded in the year 1918.

State Bank of Travancore (SBT) before its merge with the State bank of India was honoured with two MSME Banking Excellence Awards in the year 2016. One was the Best Bank for Eco-Tech Savvy Bank for emerging Banks. Other was Best Bank for CSR & Business Responsibility among emerging Banks.
Subsidiary
As per the reserve bank of India, State Bank of Travancore (SBT) with few other banks like State bank of Patiala and State bank of Hyderabad to name some along with all its branches were ordered to be merged with state bank of India. The act was passed by the government in the year 1959 that stated such banks will be subsidiary of State bank of India and hence, it does not have its independent Subsidiary.
